This is a beautiful book. The watercolor painting and linoleum block printing create great illustrations. I particularly like the way the bird nest looks. And, I like the placement of the text too. One example of a great effect in the illustrations with text is the two page spread where the bird is trying to fly and the text follows the ups and downs of the bird. I love the shades of blue used in the sky too. The two page spreads lose nothing in the gutters. The illustrations certainly make this story. Simple but beautiful. I think this book has Caldecott potential.
