Sometimes labels on things in the pictures distract me and I don't find them very artful. I thought the labels in this book worked ok. I think the pictures in this book are beautiful but the presence of the labels makes me hesitant to declare the pictures distinguished. Does anyone else have that problem?

I personally loved the labels, since sometimes it helped point out something I had missed when I first looked at the picture. The best part of this book for me was the end papers. Stunningly beautiful.
Also, it has been around for a while, but there is a fantastic interview of Beth Krommes at http://blaine.org/sevenimpossiblethings/?p=2206 that makes for interesting reading.

Thanks for your comments, Yed. I also appreciated the labels -- I found them interesting, they were almost hidden within the illustrations (but not quite). And thanks for sharing the link to the interview with Beth Krommes. Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast is one of my favorite blogs -- and a great way to learn about illustrators and book illustration.
