Art from Her Heart: Folk Artist Clementine Hunter, by Kathy Whitehead
Illustrated by Shane W. Evans.
Abstract: Clementine Hunter's paintings went from hanging on her clothesline to hanging in museums, yet because of the color of her skin, a friend had to sneak her in when the gallery was closed.

An ACPL colleague suggested we add this title to our discussion. I agree that its definitely worthy of consideration; I especially like the reproductions of Clementine Hunter's paintings, and the folk-art style of the illustrations.
Thanks for the suggestion, Heather! If YOU have a title you'd like to suggest, please let us know in a comment, or send an email to Kris Lill or Genie Bishop.
