Just read this book yesterday. Loved it - such expressive faces on the baby. Caldecott material? - who knows - but I enjoyed reading it a great deal.

I agree its a sweet, sweet book. Would be fun to share with a child.

I love this book. It is a cute book but also a beautifully illustrated book. And, it certainly doesn't need words because the illustrations tell a great story. The end pages lead you right into the story by being brightly illustrated something you don't see very often. The two page spreads are done wonderfully with nothing getting lost in the gutters. The expressions on the faces are done in such a way they just draw the reader right into the feelings of the children and the dog. Plus the choices of color are great because the children and dog are focused on the toys so the toys are done in bright colors pull your attention to them. I think this could very well be a serious Caldecott contender.
