Mo Willems has out done himself as far as the illustrations go in the "Naked More Rat Gets Dressed." The color of the paper and the fact that you don't see any sun or grass is just perfect for the lives of mole rats. You feel like you are underground with them. The illustrations definitely tell the story very well by themselves and the expressions on the mole rats' faces are just precious. I am just amazed that a book that appears to have such simple and plain illustrations can be so much fun. I just love Mo's mole rats, what personality they have.

I agree, I think the ability to create such expression with such simple images is quite a talent. I have to say that my favorite character is Grand-pah -- he even has age spots!!

I agree - hilarious story and such fun illustrations!

Genie, I hadn't thought about the "underground" feel of the illustrations, but you are so right.
